Ugly Shirt VI (A Preview)
only slightly sort of…
You can’t really see the shirt I am wearing in this post, and I am fine with that. I know, your excitement and anticipation is hard to hold in check. So why post these if the shirt can’t be made out? If it’s going to be nothing more than a tease? Well, I liked the photos. I thought they were cool.
And I do think this shirt is particularly ugly. It needs to be seen in stages as to avoid shock.

Ugly Shirt V
paisley and proud!
I cheated on Ugly Shirt day yesterday (today?). I posted the pictures by the time I was supposed to, but I am writing this on Sunday. I am going to write next week’s today as well, so I won’t have to scramble next time.
Some people will try to tell you there is nothing ugly about paisley. These people are wrong.
Last week was National Paisley Shirts at Work Week (if it wasn’t it should be! It’s not like I am asking for National Paisley Shirt Year). I was probably the only participant. I managed to make it all five days with a different shirt each day. One of the women I work with says I have too many paisley shirts. Firstly, I ask you, can a man have too many paisley shirts? I think this answer is obvious. Secondly, there is no secondly. Finally, I have five long sleeve ones and two short sleeve ones. Lastly, I’ve always got my eye out for more (see first item). Remember, I only buy used, and I refuse to pay more than $4 or $5.

Ugly Shirt IV
ugly is as ugly does…
It’s ugly shirt Saturday, and I am too tired to write about these yet tonight. I should have had a shirt ready to go, so I didn’t have to put up shots taken just today! I’ll update this post tomorrow, but in case you tuned in just for the shirts, here they are!
Update: Ok, so these pictures were taken at RVP 1875, a working museum in Story City. The point of this place is that Robby Pedersen puts together pieces of furniture using methods common before 1875. Each piece is art as well as being a functioning made-to-order piece of furniture. This place is definitely worth the stop. I have a nice case of coveting going on for the partner desk on the second level. Way too expensive for me, and most pieces are out of my price range, but he does have some smaller items you could pick up if you were just wanting a trip souvenir.

Ugly Shirt III
“What ugly sights of death within mine eyes!” Shakespeare, King Richard III. Act i. Sc. 4.
If you were to look down a tube filled with rocks, marbles, and mirrors this shirt pattern is what you would see. Like a kid’s kaleidoscope this shirt really should have a moving pattern. But I will take this snapshot ugly as it is.

Ugly Shirt II
this is going to get ugly…
I think I know my Roman numerals up to at least 50, so hopefully 50 weeks from now I’ll be ending this series of posts with Ugly Shirt LII. Anyway, again, I don’t remember where I got this shirt. It’s not truly hideous, but not all ugly shirts are created equal.
Like I said in my last shirt post, I have rules about what I will buy and wear. The obvious one is nothing new. I’m not paying good money for these monstrosities! Nope, I seldom pay more than $4 and I prefer paying less. Another rule is nothing with flowers on them. I consider these “cheater shirts.” It’s too easy easy to get ugly with flowers. Besides, I don’t want closets full of Hawaiian shirts. And it’s a bit hard to codify, but I also have a wrong-kind-of-ugly rule. Usually these are shirts that don’t violate any of my real rules, but that are just off because of color or design. I can admire these shirts, but just know I’d look like an idiot wearing them.
Ok, tune in next Saturday for another venture into my closet.
